Nourishing Nut Butter Lactation Bites – A Simple, Holistic Recipe for Milk Supply
I’m always looking for ways to support new parents with nourishing, wholesome foods that fuel their postpartum recovery and encourage a healthy milk supply. These Nut Butter Lactation Bites are packed with nutrient-dense ingredients to naturally support lactation while also being a delicious, easy snack (because let’s be honest—sometimes you barely have time to sit down, let alone make a meal!).
This recipe is simple, no-bake, and full of ingredients traditionally used to support milk production—like flaxseed, brewer’s yeast, and oats. Plus, they’re naturally sweetened with raw honey and have just the right touch of indulgence with chocolate chips.
Ingredients:
1 cup nut butter (almond, cashew, peanut, etc.)
1/3 cup raw honey
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup flaxseed meal (rich in omega-3s!)
3 tablespoons brewer's yeast (debittered)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
~1/2 cup chocolate chips (measure with your heart ❤️)
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the nut butter and honey, stirring until smooth.
Add the dry ingredients—rolled oats, flaxseed meal, brewer's yeast, cinnamon, and melted coconut oil—then fold in the chocolate chips.
Place the mixture in the fridge or freezer for 15-30 minutes. This helps firm it up, making it easier to roll into bite-sized portions.
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, roll the mixture into small bites (about a heaping spoonful each). You should get around 24 bites.
Store in the fridge for up to two weeks, or in the freezer for 2-3 months for longer storage!
Why These Ingredients Work for Lactation
Oats – A well-known galactagogue (aka milk-boosting food) that helps support milk supply.
Flaxseed Meal – Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which support hormone balance and milk production.
Brewer’s Yeast – A rich source of B vitamins and minerals that can help increase milk supply and energy levels.
Nut Butter & Coconut Oil – Healthy fats are essential for postpartum recovery and fueling your body while nursing.
Raw Honey – A natural, unprocessed sweetener with antibacterial properties (and it tastes amazing!).
